Looking for something new to make for dinner tonight? This rich and creamy Cheesy Tater Tot Poutine recipe really hits the spot!
Happy Monday – I hope you are feeling awesome! Today, I’m sharing a brand new meal idea that we created this past week. This Cheesy Tater Tot Poutine recipe puts a hearty spin on the traditional dish that your whole family will love.
Poutine is one of my very favorite meals and lucky for me, the rest of my family loves it, too.
So, when my youngest daughter asked me to make it for dinner recently, you know I had to give it a try, right?!
But, of course, the husband is a meatatarian…so we’ve gotta have some kind of meat on the table…
So, instead of serving my homemade Poutine with just gravy, I added some ground beef to the mix, too!
Then, I realized that we didn’t have any french fries left in the freezer, so we used tater tots.
(↑↑ THIS is why it’s so important to keep inventory of what you have available. ↑↑)
Of course, I already knew we didn’t have cheese curds, so we decided to give it a go with just plain, old cheddar cheese instead.
And it was Ahhhhmazzzing!!!
SO GOOD!
I honestly don’t know if we’ll ever make a regular Poutine recipe around here, because this Cheesy Tater Tot Poutine recipe is really that good.
SIDE NOTE:
What is Poutine?
“Poutine is a dish that includes french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. It originated in the Canadian province of Quebec and emerged in the late 1950s in the Centre-du-Québec area.” – Wikipedia
Although, if you stop at just about any diner or cafe in New England, you’re sure to find Poutine on the menu.
And if you’re in New York, they’re called Disco Fries and it’s basically the same thing, but served with American cheese in place of cheese curds.
So, regardless of where it’s originally from, just know that it’s awesome and you have to try it.
If you can’t get to a diner or cafe in Quebec, New England or New York (as if any of us can right now?!), then make your own at home!
And the best part is, this Cheesy Tater Tot Poutine recipe requires just 4 simple ingredients…
Ground beef, tater tots, gravy and cheese…
And it’s ready to eat in less than 30 minutes!
It just doesn’t get any better than that!
Go ahead…give it a try…you’re going to love it!
