Looking for a sweet treat that can be served for breakfast or a snack? Make these Chocolate Chip Scones and your family will beg for more!
My girls and I could eat scones everyday of the week. I don’t know if it’s our heritage (English, Irish, Scottish) that makes us crave them or if it’s because they are just so stinking good, but we love scones of all kinds!
My favorite are Snickerdoodle Scones – they’re covered in cinnamon and sugar and are perfect for eating with a cup of coffee.
The husband really likes my Maple Cinnamon Chip and Golden Raisin Scones.
But, of course, the girls love Chocolate Chip Scones!
So, this weekend I whipped up a batch and surprised them with a Sunday afternoon treat. While I was baking, I realized that I’ve never shared the recipe with you. So, here we are – it’s really simple and they’re ready in about 20 minutes…you can’t beat that!
Scones are perfect for breakfast, snacks or even dessert after dinner!
Imagine eating a super-soft giant chocolate chip cookie for breakfast!
Or if you’d rather serve them for dessert, add a little vanilla glaze and you’re good to go.
So, the next time you’re looking for a sweet treat that doesn’t take hours to make, give these Chocolate Chip Scones a try – your family will love them!
Here’s the recipe…
Chocolate Chip Scones Recipe

- 11 x 17 baking sheet
- Large mixing bowl
- Pastry blender (or forks)
- Large cookie scoop
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 tablespoons cold butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup sugar
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Lightly grease an 11 inch by 17 inch baking sheet.
Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
Cut in the butter using a pastry blender (or two forks) until the mixture resembles a crumby dough.
Combine the beaten egg, milk and vanilla in a separate bowl. Stir into the dough mixture, slowly, until well combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Use a cookie scoop or 2 large spoons to scoop the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
Sprinkle the top of each scone with a pinch of sugar.
Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are lightly brown.
Serve warm with a hot cup of coffee or tea!
Enjoy!
