Make your own DIY Chalkboard Notebook so you can change your mind whenever you want to!
How many times have you had an idea for something, so you write a title down on the cover of a brand new notebook…planning to use that notebook ONLY for your idea(s).
You jot down a few ideas, then you sort of forget about that plan and suddenly your notebook becomes full of household to-do lists, grocery lists and appointments that you jotted down.
Do you throw away the hodgepodge, just because the title on the front of the notebook doesn’t match what’s written inside?
Heck no!
That would be such a waste!
Just paint the cover and make your own DIY chalkboard notebook instead!
Simply, wipe off the chalk to change the title whenever you like. Plus, you can doodle some funky decorations when you’re bored, too!
DIY chalkboard notebooks are also great for kids in school! Paint a bunch of notebooks in different colors and write the title of each class on the cover of each notebook.
No more wasted notebooks at the end of the school year!
Just wipe off the school subject and tear out the used pages. Then, let the kids use the remaining pages to draw in during the “I’m Bored” moments of summer!
Here’s How To Make Your Own DIY Chalkboard Notebook
Here’s What You Need:
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup paint (feel free to use any type of paint you have laying around! I’ve used regular house paint, acrylic craft paints and even outdoor latex paints.)
- 1 teaspoon {White} Non-Sanded Tile Grout
Materials:
- 1 medium {throwaway} plastic container (such as a coffee can, cottage cheese or butter tub)
- Paint stirrer (or dowel or stick)
- Wax Paper
- 1 to 3 notebooks with cardboard covers
- Foam Paintbrush(es)
- Chalk (I highly recommend “anti-dust” chalk!)
Directions:
Combine the paint and non-sanded tile grout in your plastic container. Stir until the paint is smooth and creamy with no remaining lumps of grout.
Place a sheet of wax paper inside your notebook, just under the cover. This will help keep paint off your inner notebook pages.
Use a foam paintbrush to paint the cover of your notebook with your paint mixture.
Allow the paint to dry.
Paint a second coat of paint, if desired.
Once the paint has dried completely, you need to “prime” your chalkboard. Basically, this just means rub a piece of chalk all over the notebook, then wipe it off.
That’s it! Your DIY chalkboard notebook is ready to use!
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning how to make your own DIY Chalkboard Notebook. It’s a fun project to do with the kids on a rainy day and if you don’t have kids, make one for yourself instead!
