Henry’s On the Market in Charleston, South Carolina

Looking for a hot spot to eat in Charleston, South Carolina? Henry’s On the Market will not disappoint – even the pickiest eater will find something delicious on the menu!

We just returned from the most amazing trip from Vermont to Florida and back. We had so much fun and ate some really amazing food! On the trip down, we stuck close to the eastern seaboard and we got to stop in several of the “old” southern cities that we’ve never visited. I can’t wait to share it all with you! Stopping at Henry’s On the Market in Charleston was a sort of an accidental kick off point in our trip, so I thought it was a good spot to start…

Let’s head to Charleston…

Charleston wasn’t on our original list of stopping points, but, we were hungry as we drove through, so we thought we’d stop, have lunch and wander around the city for a bit.

And I fell in love…

The city is beautiful, traditional and so very quaint…

Between the gas lanterns lining the streets and the gorgeous fountains hidden in the courtyards between the buildings, I wanted to stay forever and explore it all.

Unfortunately, we only had a couple of hours to wander and get some food, but…

Charleston…I will be back!

Finding Henry’s On the Market

After wandering through the Historical City Market, we randomly found Henry’s on a nearby corner and decided to go in for lunch.

Little did we know that Henry’s is the oldest restaurant, still operating, in Charleston. It’s been around since 1932 and it is the coolest little place!

We sat on the rooftop deck, where you could see over most of the city and take in the beautiful, sunny day views.

The husband had Chef Anthony’s Barbecue Pulled Pork (which I forgot to photograph) and I had the most delicious Pimento Cheese Tray and Butter Crackers.

Just look at this stuff…

It was so good that when I ran out of crackers, I literally ate the rest of the cheese with a spoon.

I really need to get my hands on a good recipe for pimento cheese! Anyone want to share?

All in all we had an awesome time at Henry’s and we hope to get back there again someday! So, if you find yourself in Charleston, South Carolina, be sure to stop in and have a meal…you won’t regret it!
