Make a 6 month supply of homemade laundry detergent for only pennies per load…Just imagine the scent possibilities in making your own homemade laundry soap!
I’ve noticed that a lot of people have been jumping on the homemade laundry detergent train lately.
Personally, I’ve tried it a few times over the years and I really didn’t get the results I wanted.
Some recipes would make our clothes look faded and worn. And sometimes the soap didn’t dissolve in the water and we’d end up with smears of white powder all over our clothes…which really doesn’t look very nice!
Awhile back, (after spending another $10.00 on a bottle of laundry detergent that only lasted a couple of weeks!) I decided to try making my own homemade soap again and I finally have found a recipe that I LOVE, so I thought I’d share.
This recipe is my own concoction based on a few different ones that I’ve found, but if it can get the dirt and grease out of my husband’s work clothes…It will work on anything!
Plus, it smells amazing! Like clean should smell, you know?
Here’s the recipe…
How to Make Your Own Homemade Laundry Detergent
Things You Need:
- Fels-Naptha laundry soap bar
- Borax – 65 oz box
- Washing soda – 55 oz box
- Small tub oxygen laundry booster
- Scent booster crystals (optional)
- 1-3 gallon bucket/container or 3-1 gallon buckets/containers
Directions:
Use a food processor or cheese grater to shred the bar of laundry soap.
Pour all of the shreds into your bucket or split into thirds if you are using 3 containers, like I did.
Add borax, washing soda, oxygen laundry booster and scent boosters into the bucket (or again split into thirds if necessary).
Place the lid on your container(s) and shake to mix the ingredients.
NOTE: Keep the little scoop that comes in the tub of oxygen laundry booster.
Use 1 scoop for a regular load and 2 scoops per heavy-duty load of laundry to make your homemade laundry detergent last for up to 6 months!
I hope you enjoy trying out this Homemade Laundry Detergent recipe!
Have a Spectacular Day!
