Stop wasting your money on salad and greens at the grocery store! Learn how to grow your own salad bowl and get a free printable garden tag below…
Do you love to eat salad often, but hate the high cost of produce at the grocery store? Stop buying it and learn how to grow your own salad bowl instead. You can grow any kind of lettuce or greens that you like indoors or out and you can do it year-round!
We love salad, but I’ve got to tell you – I’m getting real sick and tired of spending $50 or more every week on just produce. This whole grocery thing is ridiculous! I try to feed my family healthy food, but it’s getting so expensive to eat healthy that I can see why people choose the 99¢ budget meals from Wal-Mart. Not that I’m switching to them, but I totally understand why some people do.
Personally, I’m glad it’s summer right now and we’re starting to get some veggies from our garden. Our salad bowl is almost ready for harvest and I thought it would be a great time to take some pictures and share with you how to grow your own salad bowl. Plus, I’m sharing a free printable garden tag below the tutorial. It’s actually 2 tags, but one is labeled with “Salad Bowl” and the other is blank, so you can use it on any of your plants!
Growing your own salad bowl is super easy and you can do it any time of year, as long as you have a warm, sunny spot inside the house. So, quit wasting your money at the grocery store on lettuce and greens, because you can grow any kind that you like. The salad bowl I photographed for this post includes Arugula, Mixed Baby Lettuces and Spotted Trout Lettuce, but feel free to use any kind! We’ve used spinach, mache, kale and just about every kind of leaf lettuce you can grow. They always turn out great – even for gardener’s lacking a green thumb – like me!
