How to Increase Sales on Etsy Without Spending Any Money

Sick of the sale a month cycle? Increase sales on Etsy with these simple tips and tricks!

I wish I could give you a magic formula that would automatically increase sales on Etsy for you, but it doesn’t work that way. Unfortunately, there is no special switch.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished for a way to increase sales without having to spend hours and hours on SEO, updating photographs and wasting my life away on Social Media.

But, that’s the way of the game.

It takes 10,000 hours to truly master anything. Time spent leads to experience; experience leads to proficiency; and the more proficient you are the more valuable you’ll be. – Malcolm Gladwell

But, just because there is no magic switch, doesn’t mean you can’t be successful on Etsy. You can!

It just takes a lot little more work than listing an item and hoping for a sale.

I’m not suggesting that you go out and spend a bunch of money on ads. It’s not worth it. Instead, you have to spend some time on marketing your shop.

Here’s some tips to help you get started…

How to Increase Sales on Etsy Without Spending Any Money

It takes a lot of time and effort to make a business successful. Especially, a small “one-man show” business that requires you to wear all the hats.

It’s not easy and you can spend hours upon hours reading books, blogs and magazine articles that promise to teach you how to make millions. But honestly, there’s only one tip in any of them that is really helpful…

Get your stuff out there!

If you don’t show your stuff REGULARLY, then no one is ever going to find it. It really doesn’t matter if you sell peanut butter cake or leather moccasins – there is a buyer out there somewhere.

You just have to find him and then, you have to show him your peanut butter cakes, over and over again.

But, you see, that’s the hardest part of running your own business. The almighty question of “Who wants to buy your peanut butter cakes?”.

Obviously, if you want to increase sales on Etsy, you have to find the peanut butter cake lovers out there. So, how do you do it?

Be everywhere!

And you don’t have to spend hours and hours or millions to do it.

Choose Your Media and work it

What’s your favorite social media these days? Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat?

Personally, I prefer Instagram and Pinterest. I have a Facebook page and a Twitter account, too, but I don’t use either as often as I should. But, I suppose I should get better about both!

So…

How many times did you post about your business yesterday? 1? 2?

How many times did Old Navy post about their business yesterday? Or Walmart? Or Macy’s?

Now, granted, I’m sure they all have a social media manager that gets to do nothing but pin and tweet all day long. Of course, you don’t have that.

But guess what – if you want to be as prolific as Walmart, you have to BE that.

You have to be the Social Media Manager for your business.

You have to be the Marketing Director. The Talker. The Promoter.

I know it sucks, believe me, I do. Most of us start this creative endeavor because we don’t want to be in the limelight all the time. But, you don’t have a choice, really.

While being the designer, the creator, the maker is the fun part, it can’t sustain your business. You can make everything you want to make, but if you don’t market it, then no one sees it and no one buys it. And you end up with an episode on Hoarders.

If you really want to increase sales on Etsy…if you really want to grow your business…you have to GET OUT THERE!

Stop being so shy about it! Stop considering your little Etsy business to be a hobby and start selling it!
