Lights on but no one home? Is your electric bill out of control? Learn how to save money on electricity with the easy to implement suggestions in this post.
How to Save Money on Electricity
Do you feel like your electric bill keeps growing month after month? Has it gotten so far out of control that you’ve been making minimum payments week after week just to keep them from shutting it off? I’ve been there! But, I figured out a few ways to save money on electricity that cut my bill by 25% and these little tricks will help you, too.
Stop the Dishwasher
Rinse off your dishes as you use them, then wash them by hand instead of running your dishwasher. Not only does this save money on electricity, but it takes less time and wastes less water!
Hang Your Clothes
Instead of using your dryer, just hang your clothes out to dry. If you don’t have a clothesline, use an indoor drying rack or just place your clothes on hangers and hang them on your shower curtain rod. Or hang them directly in your closet – making sure to leave room between each item so they can dry evenly.
Turn Off Lights
Make sure to turn off each light as you leave the room and don’t turn them on at all unless it’s dark out. Also, consider switching your light bulbs from incandescent to LED. They last longer and they cost less to use in the long run.
Unplug every single unused appliance in your house. Short of your refrigerator and/or freezer, there is no need for anything else to be plugged in all the time. Remind yourself everyday, if it’s plugged in – it’s using electricity!
Take Short Showers
Stop wasting time in the shower! Get in, get washed and get out. Again, this saves a ton of water, but it also helps save money on electricity, because your not running your water heater and your well pump for long periods of time.
Turn off the Tube
Don’t leave the T.V. on when you’re not watching it, if you want noise, then turn on the radio and listen to some music. Not only will it help you save money on electricity, but it will give you a boost of energy, too.
I hope you take the time to try some of these tips, I just know they’ll help you save money on electricity and stop sending all your money to the utility companies.
Have a Spectacular Day!
