Are you thinking about buying an Outsunny Greenhouse? Be sure to read my review before you do!
Last year, I finally broke down and bought a greenhouse. You might remember my excitement when I shared about it in this post last year. I bought the 10 foot x 20 foot Outsunny Greenhouse from Home Depot for just $250. The idea of being able to extend my growing season and actually grow tomatoes that turned red were high on my list and I was so happy the day we put it together…
I had so much fun setting up the layout and planting my veggies in there. The tomato plants grew so large, I literally had to cut the tops out of them to get them to slow down.
Even after being chopped off at the top, they still went on to produce enough tomatoes to last my family several months.
But then, autumn set in and with it our first big snow fall of the year.
We went outside twice to clean the roof off before we went to bed that night. But…
Down went the greenhouse anyway…
Despite the fact that it was still full of plants and all my gardening supplies.
Maybe we should have taken it down…
Perhaps we should have reinforced the structure…
But, this wasn’t even a big snow fall…
And yet, down it went into a mangled pile of crushed poles and broken dreams…
Obviously, we had to let it sit that way until the snow melted.
It was just too heavy to lift it up and try to get it standing again. So, we waited…
And waited…
Until the mid-winter thaw in February, when we could finally clean the snow off and get the roof lifted back up.
Luckily, the plastic was still fully intact and so, we secured some 2 x 4’s to the inside and got it standing upright again.
At this point, I was hoping we might get to reinforce the roof and walls and maybe…just maybe, we’d be able to save it.
That was until the wind came through and flipped it up into the air and over onto it’s roof…
And kersplat…
The greenhouse was done.
The steel poles broke right in half and tore the cover in several places, rendering it all completely useless…
So, would I recommend the Outsunny Greenhouse to anyone else?
Maybe…
If you live in a sunny, warm location that doesn’t receive any rain, snow or wind.
Otherwise, probably not…
My experience with the greenhouse was incredibly disappointing and to be honest, I’ve read a whole lot of reviews since that were pretty terrible as well.
It seems to be a common issue with this particular brand of greenhouse. Many people have lost theirs to wind and even just rain…
And of course, many more, like me, have lost theirs to snow…
Note to self: READ REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING!
