Is anyone else not a morning person? This mama bear loves to hibernate. With three young kiddos – that just ain’t happening.
I do, however, know how important starting your day off with a good strong cup of joe and some nutrition to fuel your body and motivate your brain is!
I tend to lean towards carbs. Bagels, strudels, breakfast sandwiches.
Who doesn’t love carbs?!
But it isn’t always the greatest option.
Don’t have time to make something healthy?
Need a change up to your, “norm.”
I’ve got you covered.
Overnight oats with yogurt are where it is at, and by it, I mean the GOOD stuff.
The chocolaty, nutty stuff. Or the berry and crunch stuff. Or if you are like me the good ol’ fashion’ country kitchen flavors stuff.
Honey. Apples. Maple Syrup.
Need I say more?
Who wouldn’t want to casually throw a bunch of things into a mason jar and then toss it into the fridge, only to wake up with it tasting BETTER the next morning.
And….it’s even good for you!
Country Kitchen Overnight Oats With Yogurt
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of a liquid, your choice. (I recommend a type of milk: dairy/coconut/almond/etc.)
- 1/2 cup of plain yogurt
- 1 packet of instant maple & brown sugar oats. (Old fashion’ oats work great too, but, I like the added flavor of this packet!)
- 1/2 cup of granola. (I use Nature Valley Oat & Honey protein granola)
- 1/2 an apple cut into chunks
- Drizzle of honey
- Drizzle of maple syrup
Directions:
- Add all of the ingredients into a mason jar or similar container.
- Stir, close the container and give it a good shake.
- Put into the fridge and leave for at least 4-6 hours but overnight is preferred.
- In the morning, grab & go! Or- add a touch more liquid to loosen it up.
- Enjoy a protein packed, delicious morning treat.
This recipe is easy breezy. Most of these items you probably have sitting in your fridge or cabinets already!
Added perk: kids love overnight oats too!!!! Win, win!!!!
