This Savory and Spicy Cowboy sandwich recipe is easy to tweak depending on your preference of heat and pairs well with almost anything. Grab the napkins though because it is going to get messy…in all the good ways.

This recipe is guaranteed to satisfy the meat lover in your life. It is packed with meat and doesn’t skip the butter either. It is not a picturesque finale but your mouth might disagree.

Savory and Spicy Cowboy Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 1- 1.5 pounds ground hamburg
  • Package of sub rolls (6 rolls)
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup of hot sauce, or more, to taste (I like Texas Pete)
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 large onion, diced

Directions:

  1. Melt 1/2 a stick of butter in a skillet, sauté onions. Do not drain skillet.
  2. Remove onions from butter.
  3. Add hamburg and break up into large chunks cooking on medium heat until no longer pink.
  4. Pour in Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce.
  5. Add 1/2 stick of butter cubed. 
  6. Lower heat and allow to simmer for 10-12 minutes.
  7. While simmering, melt 1 stick of butter on a second skillet or flat top.
  8. Grill rolls on butter.
  9. Remove all from heat and build your sandwiches.
