Of 2019, silly. And since the end is near, I’ve been thinking a lot about and planning for 2020.
My life is changing so much. It seems like yesterday I was raising my babies and now suddenly, I’ve got one in college and another as a Junior in High School…and she’s driving!!
I swear, I don’t know where the time goes!
But, with all these changes in my life, it’s led me to thinking about where I want to take my little business in the coming year and as usual, I have A LOT of ideas.
Thank you to those of you that took my survey last month. It gave me a lot more to think about, but it also really helped to solidify some things that I already knew. So, I thought I’d share a couple of those ideas today.
Rebranding
I’ve been playing around with logos and layouts for years without ever coming to a simple design that I really love.
But, I’m happy to say that I rebranded VLHamlinDesign this year and I really, truly love the design (above)…the color scheme…the whole of it.
I think my new branding really symbolizes my work and I’m hoping to do something similar here on Food Life Design.
Since I have 13 different designs featuring my little moose family, I guess you could say that I really love them, so why shouldn’t they be featured on my logos, right?!
And since I’m working on rebranding, I think it’s time to switch the domain here on the blog to a more fitting URL.
So, I did it…
I bought the new domain www.food-life-design.com.
Be sure to bookmark that!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get just foodlifedesign.com…someone else has already taken it, so make sure you remember to use those dashes!
In the coming months, I’ll be slowly transferring the blog over to that domain. It’s a long process, but I think it will make things here so much more cohesive.
The End Is Near for Menu Planning
I know this is going to be a controversial topic, but I think I’m done making weekly and monthly menu plans.
While I am aware that many of you use them and enjoy them, the truth is…
I’m not really using them so much anymore.
Yes, I make them each month, post them in my kitchen and “plan” to follow it.

But, like I said, my daughters are both growing up…
I really don’t need to make these large meals anymore and honestly, I don’t want to.
While the end is near for menu plans, I’m not leaving behind cooking or the “food” category here on the blog. Not by any means!
I’m just letting it evolve as my own life is evolving…
Plus, in the survey you guys requested more recipes. So, instead of big, giant meals that feed 4 to 6 people, I’ll be sharing more recipes that only feed 2 or 3.
I’m also hoping to add more “make and freeze” meals. Sometimes, it’s so nice to just pull some frozen soup or a pizza out of the freezer and heat it up instead of having to start from scratch.
I’ve got a few more ideas for the food category, too. But, I can’t share them all now or you won’t have anything to look forward to!
More Free Printables
Your top request on the survey was more free printables. Obviously…because who doesn’t love free?! I know I do!
But, don’t worry – I heard you loud and clear!
In fact, in the past week, I’ve already added 4 new free printables!
Throughout the coming months and into next year, I’ll be adding even more. And I’ve got some really fun ideas, too!
I can’t wait to share them with you.
But, that’s for another day.
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek into my plans for the coming year. I’ll be sharing more details over the coming months.
